For the past few months, Washington has been a hub of activity on many different fronts. Congress and the Biden Administration are tackling numerous crises, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine; rising inflation, gas prices, and interest rates; a slowing economy; the impending midterm elections in November; momentous Supreme Court decisions on abortion and the Second Amendment; and a wave of mass shootings, including the heinous attacks in Buffalo and Uvalde, TX.

During this frenetic time, FLEOA's legislative team has increased its engagement with both the Legislative and Executive branches to ensure our issues remain a priority for policymakers.  For the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Washington was able to honor our fallen law enforcement heroes with in-person events in May during National Police Week, such as the National Peace Officers Memorial Service and Candlelight Vigil.

While in Washington, D.C. for these important tributes, FLEOA's Senior Leadership held numerous high-level meetings with Members of Congress and Biden Administration officials on our priority issues.  On the legislative front, our active engagement before, during, and after Police Week led to the introduction of several bills that are important to FLEOA members.  We also helped to encourage significant activity at both the committee level and on the House floor on other pieces of legislation.

Below are a list of our 2022 Legislative Priorities.
