The FLEOA Foundation 2023 Scholastic Awards Program Guidelines
Online applications for 2023 will be accepted in the Spring 2023.  Applicants must check the FLEOA Foundation Website for current deadlines and additional details.

The FLEOA Foundation Scholastic Awards Program is looking for interested eligible applicants.  Listed below are the eligibility rules, requirements, and directions for the FLEOA Foundation Scholastic Awards Program.

Who is Eligible?
Class of 2023 High School graduates, who are the children of current, retired or deceased members of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) may apply.  Note, an applicant's parent/guardian must be a current F.L.E.O.A. member, and have been an active member for at least the prior 2 years (2021 and 2022).  Exceptions will be granted for any applicant whose parent/guardian was a F.L.E.O.A. member at the time they were killed in the line of duty.

Deadline for Application:
Date to be determined and posted in March.

How to Apply:
Applicants must submit the following two items and send in one email to awards@fleoafoundation.org.  In the email Subject heading, indicate: (Applicant Name) Scholastic Award Application.
Note:  Incomplete and/or unsigned applications cannot be considered, so please provide all information requested.

How Winners are Selected:
The FLEOA Foundation Scholastic Committee will independently review and evaluate each application. Scholastic awards will be awarded based on the Committee's overall assessment of the content in each application. Note: The FLEOA Foundation will not discriminate against any applicant based on their race, color, religion, sexual and/or gender orientation, national origin, disability or age.

Criteria Used for Selection:
Scholastic ability - SAT/ACT scores, and High School GPA; social character based on community service, extracurricular activities, awards and employment (not mandatory).

Special consideration will be given to those applicants who are the children of F.L.E.O.A. Members killed or disabled in the line of duty, or who died from medical complications.  Hardships and/or an applicant's disability that are listed on the application may also receive special consideration by the Scholastic Awards Committee.

Type of Awards:
The scholastic awards will be limited to a one-time award for an applicant who will be entering their first year of college (Note: the amount of awards may vary based on available F.L.E.O.A. Foundation funds).

Notification of Awards:
Notifications to all applicants will be sent during the first week of August, 2023. The contact information provided by the applicant will be used for this purpose.
