"The Public Servant Protection Act is a long needed piece of legislation that acknowledges the harmful risks associated with doxing of law enforcement officers and other public employees. When private information is weaponized, it can have disastrous and tragic results – as was evidenced by the heinous attack on the family of US District Judge Esther Salas. No government employee--particularly members of the law enforcement community who already face considerable risk from ambush attacks and violent assaults—should also have to face the threat of an attack on their loved ones simply because some cowardly individual or group chooses to publicize their home address or other personal information online. FLEOA appreciates Senator Tom Cotton for leading the effort to protect law enforcement from these violent threats and criminalize the harmful release of private information. We look forward to working with lawmakers on the passage of this important legislation.” FLEOA President Larry Cosme.
