Dear Chairman Johnson and Senator Peters,

We are writing to you to express our strong support for the nomination of Acting Secretary Chad Wolf to the position of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  As Acting Secretary, Chad Wolf has shown himself to be a strong and capable leader that has led the Department through some of its most challenging times.  From the response to the COVID pandemic to the rise of assaults against federal property and law enforcement officers to ensuring our homeland remains secure, Chad Wolf has proven that he is up to and can meet the challenges of this important position.

FLEOA has worked with Acting Secretary Wolf during his entire tenure, including during his time standing up the Transportation Security Administration in the aftermath of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.  The Acting Secretary’s experience has been critical in allowing him to successfully manage a Department as large and complex as DHS while continuing to keep it focused on keeping America and Americans safe.

To accomplish this, Chad Wolf sought out and enlisted the advice and support of stakeholder groups from across DHS’s myriad constituencies.  That stakeholder input and those partnerships have been critical to enhancing DHS missions and providing a sounding board for effective and realistic strategies.  As Acting Secretary, Chad Wolf has also prioritized the personnel of DHS to ensure that they were supported with the gear and strategies required to accomplish their missions.

At a time when our nation is grappling with many critical issues that pertain to our national security, sovereignty, and pillars of our nation, it is vital that the leadership of the Department be effective, permanent, and stable.  Confirming Acting Secretary Chad Wolf as the next Secretary of Homeland Security would provide that strong and stable leadership.

Sincerely,

Larry Cosme

National President
