FLEOA Applauds Nomination of Chad Wolf

FLEOA Applauds the Nomination of Acting Secretary Chad Wolf to Serve as Permanent DHS Secretary

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Larry Cosme, National President of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), issued the following press release in response to the nomination of current Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acting Director Chad Wolf to serve as the permanent DHS Secretary: 

"FLEOA is proud to support the nomination of Acting Secretary Wolf to serve as permanent DHS Secretary and encourages a swift Senate confirmation. As Acting Secretary, Wolf has proven to be a strong and competent leader who has guided the Department through unprecedented attacks on law enforcement and the ongoing public health emergency,” said President Cosme. 

"FLEOA has been pleased to work closely with Acting Secretary Wolf on several initiatives focused on maintaining and enhancing public safety, such as our unified opposition to the passage of ‘Green Light Laws’ in states across the country. Consistently, Acting Secretary Wolf has proven eager to receive stakeholder input and place the concerns of rank and file law enforcement officers first. We appreciate this commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our officers and communities,” Cosme continued. "Acting Secretary Wolf has significant experience working with DHS, not just as its acting leader for the nearly nine months, but Wolf was also integral in establishing the Transportation Security Administration following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This is experience is critical for managing such a large and complex agency dedicated to many facets of national security.” 

"Permanent and stable leadership is important to the functioning of any agency. As Acting Secretary, Wolf has demonstrated he is able to handle the job and manage complex national security issues during times of crisis and unrest. As a permanent leader, we are confident Wolf will continue this legacy of excellence and support the needs of rank and file officers. We encourage the Senate to move forward with Wolf’s nomination expeditiously to provide the Department with the consistent leadership it needs,” Cosme concluded.
