Condolences Over the Death of George Floyd

FLEOA President Larry Cosme and Executive Vice President Mat Silverman express their condolences over the death of George Floyd and the role of law enforcement. Read their full message below.

"Law enforcement's primary mission is to protect and serve the public and uphold the Constitutional rights of all Americans.  Every year, over 800,000 law enforcement officers work to keep America safe and make an average of 53 million public contacts, the majority of which are lawful and safe.  Unfortunately, as we saw in Minnesota, bad decisions can culminate in tragic circumstances.  Universal law enforcement training teaches that the protection of life is a law enforcement officer's principal objective and when that principle is neglected, accountability must occur.  Unfortunately, no matter what this investigation reveals, a life was lost and that will be felt by all involved, especially the family members who were not present and must now deal with this tragedy's aftermath."
