FLEOA Supports the Federal Frontline Worker Leave Protection Act (HR 6733)
May 9, 2020
The Honorable Jennifer Wexton
1217 Longworth HOB
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Representative Wexton:
On behalf of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) – the nation’s largest
professional, non-profit association representing 28,000 federal law enforcement officers from 65
agencies – we are writing you in strong support of the Federal Frontline Worker Leave Protection
Act (H.R. 6733).
The Federal Frontline Worker Leave Protection Act will ensure that federal employees do not lose
any of their annual leave due to their inability to take time off as a result of COVID-19. This bill
will make sure that every employee who is unable to take time off due to working in response to
COVID-19, and exceeds the annual leave maximum cap, would have that excess leave balance
rolling into the next year.
Current law regarding annual leave for federal employees allows for that leave to be rolled over as a
result of an exigency of public business, such as a government shutdown. The Federal Frontline
Worker Leave Protection Act H.R 6733 would add the COVID-19 response as an exigency of
public business.
FLEOA appreciates your introduction of the The Federal Frontline Worker Leave Protection Act
and looks forward to its swift passage.
Respectfully,
Larry Cosme
National President
