ATF Whistleblower Peter Forcelli

FLEOA Supports ATF Whistleblower Peter Forcelli

Washington, DC ‐ Today, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) announced its full support for ATF Special Agent Peter Forcelli in response to a DOJ‐IG "Kingery" report that was released yesterday afternoon. FLEOA is concerned that the Kingery report may unfairly tarnish Special Agent Forcelli's reputation as an outstanding criminal investigator.

Additionally, FLEOA is concerned with the prospect that this report may be in retaliation to Special Agent Forcelli's whistleblower testimony during the Fast & Furious hearings. Special Agent Forcelli has distinguished himself during his commendable 28 years in local and federal law enforcement. He is described by his peers as an unrelenting, dedicated investigator with uncompromising integrity. This is not the description of someone who would casually let explosive components be trafficked into Mexico.

FLEOA is concerned that the IG report does not fairly depict what transpired in the chronology of the Kingery investigation, and stands behind Special Agent Forcelli's statement. FLEOA applauds Special Agent Forcelli for his willingness to take a polygraph to verify the veracity of his statements.  FLEOA questions why Special Agent Forcelli's six offers to be polygraphed were rejected by the IG attorney investigating this matter.

According to FLEOA President Jon Adler, "Pete Forcelli wouldn't let a badword walk across the Mexican border, let alone improvised hand grenades.  He's an honorable man and criminal investigator, and we stand by his words and his actions."

In the interests of full disclosure and transparency, FLEOA is asking for an independent investigation lead by disinterested parties to address this matter.
