Stop Disability Fraud Act of 2014

September 3, 2014

The Honorable Sam Johnson
Chairman
Subcommittee on Social Security
B‐317 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington DC 20515

Dear Chairman Johnson:

On behalf of the 26,000 members of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), please accept this letter as a strong show of support and appreciation for the introduction of the Stop Disability Fraud Act of 2014. I commend you for recognizing the need to strengthen our laws in order to better protect the taxpayers and beneficiaries.

From the federal law enforcement perspective, investigating and prosecuting those who commit financial fraud against our most vulnerable citizens is a top priority. Individuals and organizations who knave and manipulate the Social Security system for personal gain ultimately subvert the trust between our citizens and those who are charged to administer its vital programs. This critical piece of legislation will empower law enforcement and prosecutors by providing the means to effectively combat fraud against the Social Security Administration.

Ultimately, the Stop Disability Fraud Act of 2014 will strengthen our laws dealing with Social Security fraud, and enable law enforcement officers to better protect one of our most trusted and important institutions in America. This legislation wisely recognizes the need to prevent and fight Social Security fraud from the application process through the implementation of benefits. I pledge FLEOA’s  unwavering support for this critical piece of legislation, and I will communicate the same to your colleagues. Thank you for your leadership on this priority fraud prevention issue.

Respectfully,

Jon Adler
National President
