FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ASSOCIATION DECLARES IT WILL NOT SHUT DOWN!
Washington,
DC - Today, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA)
announced that if Congress shuts down the government, it will remain
operable. "We want our federal law enforcement membership to know that
in the event the government shuts down, FLEOA will continue to operate
and fight on their behalf. Our members are absolutely "essential” to us,
and to our country,” stated FLEOA President Jon Adler.
While
certain members of Congress try to apply a fatal "crash diet” approach
to resolving our government’s financial challenges, FLEOA will continue
to stand behind the brave men and women who protect our homeland and our
institutions. We will continue to oppose all misguided legislation that
attempts to attack the pay and benefits of federal law enforcement
officers.
While Congress engages in what amounts to a fatal
staring contest, dedicated federal law enforcement officers continue to
protect the American citizenry. If Congress fails to compromise on the
budget, the impact of having federal law enforcement officers furloughed
would be severe. Who is going to combat terrorists, drug trafficking
organizations, fraudsters, violent gangs, corrupt officials, gun
traffickers, violent fugitives, and criminals who exploit our
environment and wildlife?
The foundation of the United States is
built on the enduring platform of law and order. If the government shuts
down, and federal law enforcement officers are furloughed, that sacred
platform will be compromised. Nonetheless, the executive leadership of
FLEOA will continue to advocate for its membership, and not shut down.
