Updated USSS/USPP Retiree Bill

Chairman Liberman,

As you know, FLEOA represents over 26000 federal law enforcement officers from all 65 federal agencies including those in the Secret Service and US Park Police.

During the creation of the FERS pension system; US Secret Service Agents and Officers as well as US Park Police Officers that were originally paying into the Metropolitan DC pension system from 1984-1988 were removed, without recourse and placed into FERS. All those affected had been paying into the Metropolitan pension system and were neither credited for nor offered the ability to recoup or remain with that pension system.

For years, a group of affected Secret Service Agents have worked to attempt being allowed an option of buying back into the Metropolitan DC pension system. The result is the bill sponsored by you, S.1515 and its House Companion Bill H.R. 2532 sponsor by Rep Dutch Ruppetsburger.

Currently both of those bills are making their way through Congress and appear poised for enactment.

We are supportive of those bills and allowing all affected Secret Service and US Park Police officers a pathway back into the Metropolitan DC pension system.

FLEOA appreciates your support of all federal law enforcement and looks forward to working with you in the future. If you wish to discuss this, my contact information is below.

Respectfully,

Frank Terreri
