Personnel and Resources Allocation Improvement

FLEOA supported H.R. 1550, the Federal Law Enforcement Personnel and Resources Allocation Improvement Act of 2012 from its beginning. It is a common sense type of legislation.

Rep. Pedro Perilusi (D-PR) contacted FLEOA and requested not only FLEOA's support but its views with this legislation. Rep. Perilusi also thanked FLEOA on the House Floor for its support.

The Congressman, a former prosecutor, wanted to establish protocols for the federal government to prioritize staffing of federal law enforcement officer positions to those areas with the highest levels of violent crime.

The Congressman's district of Puerto Rico has been plagued by overwhelming violent crime.

This bill tasks the Attorney General and DOJ federal law enforcement agencies to identify those areas with high violent crimes and prioritize staffing with an appropriate level of officers in order to combat those rising violent crime statistics.

The current bill, H.R. 1550 passed the House and was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
