Civil Rights Tax Relief Act Endorsement

September 6, 2012

To Whom It May Concern:

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) represents federal law enforcement officers in 65 federal agencies nationwide. On behalf of the association, I would like to submit FLEOA’s endorsement of the Civil Rights Tax Relief Act of 2011.

FLEOA supports enactment of the Act which would allow:

1) non-economic damages received for an unlawful employment discrimination claim to be excluded from gross income;

2) income averaging of back pay and front pay received from such claims; and

3) an exemption from the alternative minimum tax (AMT) for any tax benefit resulting from the income averaging of amounts received from an unlawful employment discrimination claim.

FLEOA urges Congress to swiftly consider and pass the Civil Rights Tax Relief Act of 2011 (H.R. 3195 /S. 1781).

Sincerely,

Frank Terreri
National Vice President for Legislative Affairs
Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association
