FLEOA APPLAUDS NEW LAW BANNING TRANSFER OF CHILD PREDATORS IN SCHOOLS
The law enforcement group praises Senator Toomey’s tireless efforts

(Washington, DC) – Today, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) stands with Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) following the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act.

Within this law is a much needed provision to ban a long standing practice where a school or school district aids a known pedophile, child predator or individual accused of civil or criminal charges in finding another teaching job.

"In the past, school employees discharged or prosecuted for predatory acts would be protected from disclosure of this heinous behavior,” said FLEOA National President, Nathan Catura. "Senator Toomey's amendment ends this indefensible practice and FLEOA is proud to stand with him and those who work to protect our nation’s most precious asset - our children.”

The Toomey amendment passed unanimously in the Senate – 98 to 0 – in July and will ensure that States have policies or procedures that prohibit the aiding or abetting of sexual abuse, and for other purposes.
