FLEOA Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Act

May 18, 2015

Washington, DC 20515

Representative Mike Fitzpatrick,

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (www.fleoa.org) proudly stands with you in your support to increase Federal Pell Grants for the children of fallen public safety officers with the ‘‘Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Act.”

Since the beginning of this year, we’ve seen increased targeted attacks on those that were blue and watched the fabric of our society challenged by those that seek to undermine the rule of law versus abiding by it placing law enforcement officers under constant threats and dangers. According to the FBI, 51 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in 2014, versus 27 such deaths in 2013. In the first five months of 2015, over 100 law enforcement officers have been shot or feloniously assaulted, including situations where criminals have actively targeted law enforcement officers due to the uniforms and badges they wear. Unlike any other time in recent history, law enforcement families all over our nation now pray every time their loved one leaves the house for a tour of duty, hoping for their safe return.

For those that make the ultimate sacrifice, this act would honor that sacrifice by increasing Pell Grants for children of our nations fallen, giving the children of our blue heroes deserved college financial support.

FLEOA views this measure as a tribute of honor for the service and sacrifice of those that "gave all” for the American people and to protect our nation.

Sincerely,

Jon Adler

FLEOA National President
