Sale of U.S. Marshals Commemorative Coins

For 225 years, the United States Marshals Service (USMS) has served as the enforcement arm of the federal courts and brought to justice the nation’s most violent and notorious fugitives. The USMS celebrated its 225th Anniversary on September 24, 2014.  As part of the year-long anniversary celebration, the United States Mint has developed commemorative coins highlighting the Marshals Service’s legacy as the nation’s oldest and most versatile federal law enforcement organization. The USMS 225th Anniversary Commemorative Coin program includes a gold $5 coin, silver $1 coin, and clad half-dollar coin with beautiful designs portraying the U.S. Marshals Service’s unique role throughout the nation’s history, from its work to establish order in the Wild West to its support of public school integration.  The highly anticipated coins will go on sale at noon (ET) on January 29, 2015.

The price of the coins will include a surcharge which is authorized to be paid to the organizations identified in the U.S. Marshals Service 225th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act, which includes the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Association Foundation.

The U.S. Marshals Service has approximately 3,800 Deputy U.S. Marshals and Criminal Investigators accomplishing its diverse law enforcement missions.  The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association works to represent these and other law enforcement officers in the federal government.  With the selection of the FLEOA Foundation as a recipient organization, the sales of the USMS 225th Anniversary Commemorative Coins may provide financial assistance to federal law enforcement officers, their families, or their survivors in specific instances, and support to law enforcement students and appropriate charitable organizations.  The FLEOA Foundation could potentially make as much as $1.9 million from the proceeds.

To get your piece of American history and support the selected organizations, visit the United States Mint’s web site noon on January 29th to purchase from the limited supply of these unique commemorative coins.
