National Secretary Maria Coscia is a Special Agent (SA) with the Department of Defense (DoD), Inspector General (IG), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) and has been since 2001. In 2004, Ms. Coscia volunteered for a three-month detail in Baghdad, Iraq, where she worked in conjunction with the Multi-National Forces Iraq and the U.S. Military in the protection and effective enforcement of DoD's mission. She handled investigations of bribery and kickbacks, illegal sales of weapons, and violations of International Zone Security protocols. In preparation for this detail, she underwent rigorous training in multiple weapons, military tactics, tactical driving, and force protection; as well as training required by the Department of State.

From 1996 - 2000, she served as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the Western District of Tennessee and later transferred to the Eastern District of Missouri. As a Deputy U.S. Marshal, she worked several details that supported New York Metro - WitSec Division and lastly the Elian Gonzales detail. In 2000, she was selected to the Special Operations Group but declined to accept her current position as a SA with DCIS.

Ms. Coscia has been a FLEOA member since 1992 and has been actively involved in the organization as the Vice President of Chapter 22.
