John D. Amat is a Senior Criminal Investigator/Deputy United States Marshal assigned to the Southern District of Florida-Miami division. He has been a deputy with the USMS since 1991. Outside of his normal duties as a deputy, Amat has served as his district's threat coordinator, recruiter and public information officer. From 1998 to 2001 he was assigned to the HIDTA/STOP task force, an ATF initiative to target violent home invaders in south Florida. Amat continues to investigate and apprehend federal, state and local fugitives.

An active member of FLEOA since 1996, he served as Executive Vice President of Chapter 14. On the National level, Amat volunteered as the FLEOA Director of the Disney Club/Magic Kingdom Club in 1999 and served for three years as National Executive Vice President prior to serving in his current position as Vice President of Operations.
