USSS Disburses "Max-out" Payments (July 31, 2007)

FLEOA has just been informed that the USSS has issued retroactive payments to 1,849 of its employees. The payments represent past income earned by Secret Service Special Agents, but not received due to the biweekly paycap. It is important to note that these payments cover payperiod 25 (2004) through payperiod 19 (2005).

This is an important issue that FLEOA National Officers have been supporting since the Max-out payment situation arose. During a January 2007 meeting with USSS Director Mark Sullivan (see March 2007 Eighteen Eleven), FLEOA National Officers discussed the Max-out pay issue at length. FLEOA National Officers found Director Sullivan to be committed to resolving this issue, and all parties agreed it was a priority matter. FLEOA maintains that Director Sullivan is a strong leader and a man of his word.

In addition to meeting with Director Sullivan, FLEOA National Officers communicated its message through the news media that the USSS was in dire need of supplemental funding. FLEOA National Officers also met with their members' elected officials to discuss the need to properly fund the USSS so that they could carry out their vital mission. FLEOA is elated that the dedicated men and women of the USSS will finally receive the hard-earned income they deserve. Again, FLEOA would like to acknowledge and thank USSS Director Mark Sullivan for following through on this priority issue.
